mother's day.

Last year on Mother's Day (my first one as a wife), I was given flowers and treated like it was my day. I was told that because I would someday be a mother, the day was for me as well.

I got flowers again today. And it finally felt real. I am going to be a mother; I am a mother. And in a couple short months, that will be even more real.

As that date draws closer, and even more so today, I am reminded of all the wonderful mothers in my life.

To my own mother, thank you for always taking the time to care. Thank you for teaching me patience and love. Thank you for teaching me how to serve. You are such a wonderful example and woman; I hope to one day be to my children all that you have been to me.

To my mother-in-law, thank you for raising a wonderful son, for teaching him to respect and value womanhood. Thank you for your love and kindness. Thank you for your example and strength.

To my grandmothers, aunts and sisters, thank you for helping me to see all that motherhood is and all that it can be. Thank you for helping me see that you can be a mother even if you have not yet had children.

Motherhood is divine. It is eternal. I am thankful for all of the mothers in my life and for all that they have done for me. And I am so thankful for the chance that I have to join them in this wonderful role.

Happy Mother's Day!
